The Head Ref may enter results by choosing the RESULTS box. In EDIT mode,       this box is available by first pressing ESC (ESCAPE). Enter Results by left     clicking on the RESULTS box, pressing R or using the arrow keys to highlight    the RESULTS box and pressing ENTER.                                            STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE                                                             Strength of Schedule refers to how well each team's opponents have done so      far in the season.  Opponents' Won/Lost record, average, Points For and         Points Against are summed.  Teams are then ranked according to their            opponents' Won/Lost average.                                                                                                                                    Games played against the team being ranked are not included in their            opponents' records.  The idea behind this is to see how well their foes         have done in other games.  This means that the Strength of Schedule             Standings cannot be calculated until at least two weeks' results are            entered.                                                                                                                                                        Strength of Schedule is another indication of how well a team is doing.  A      team that is having a so-so year, but is playing tough opponents might beat     a team in an upcoming game that is having a better year, but has had an         easy schedule.                                                                                                                                                  Strength of Schedule rankings are used as part of the FOOTBALL GUIDE Ratings    under Standings-FBG Ratings.                                                                                                                                                                                                                   FOOTBALL GUIDE RATINGS                                                           The FOOTBALL GUIDE calculates ratings of teams to determine how good a team     really is.  This is based on more than just Won/Lost record.  Ratings are       based on Won/Lost record, Points For/Points Against ratio and Strength of       Schedule of each team.  The formula is:                                                                                                                            FBG Rating = (((W/L Ave.) + (St.of Sched. Oppnts' Ave.))/2) x 100 + P                                                                                           where P = (PF/PA ratio - 1) x 10, with a maximum +/- 2 rating points.                                                                                        These ratings can be used as a guide for Players in the Pool to make their      picks each week.  These are not used by the FOOTBALL GUIDE as other factors     such as Home Team advantage and winning streaks are also considered.                                                                                            These ratings are FOOTBALL GUIDE Ratings and are not the same as ratings        seen in newspapers and magazines.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              PLAYOFF POSSIBILITIES                                                            It is fun to keep track of your team's chances to get in the Playoffs in the    Playoff Possibilities section under Standings.  This is only available in the   Registered Version of the FOOTBALL GUIDE.                                                                                                                       The FOOTBALL GUIDE calculates if a team has mathematically clinched or has      been eliminated from the Divisional Championship and also from the Wild Card    positions.  If a team has clinched or been eliminated from a Playoff position,  the word CLINCHED or ELIMINATED will appear under the DIVISION or WILD CARD     column.  Under all other conditions, the word POSSIBLE appears.                                                                                                 Since there are chances of ties occurring for the Playoff positions, the NFL    has developed a set of Tiebreaker Rules.  These rules can be very complicated,  especially if three or more teams are tied for a position.  Tiebreaking         criteria include record against the other tied team(s), record against common   opponents and even a toss of the coin if all other rules do not determine a     team. The FOOTBALL GUIDE does not currently use all these rules in declaring    a team to have clinched or to have been eliminated from a position, but only    the first few.  So, if CLINCHED or ELIMINATED appears, these are true.          However, if POSSIBLE appears, the team may have already clinched or been        eliminated from the Playoff position by one of the other Tiebreaker rules.     TROUBLE-SHOOTING                                                                 Registered users may call 1-573-581-4344 for technical support.  If you get     DALTONWARE voice mail, please leave your name, telephone number and a           description of the problem you are having.  We will return your call ASAP.                                                                                      COMMON PROBLEMS:                                                                1. The Standings will not update after I have entered the new week's results.   Solution: You have not entered all the results up to and including that week.   Standings are only updated when all the previous weeks' results have been       entered. This means that every game up to that point must show a winner (or     tie).  Standings will update even without the scores entered.                                                                                                   2. I forgot my password.                                                        Solution: If you are not the Head Ref, kindly ask the Head Ref to change your   password for you to whatever you desire.  He can do this under the Options-     Head Ref-Change Password.  If you are the Head Ref and forget your password,    please call us at the above number for assistance.                                                                                                              3. There is a problem with the disk I received.  It will not install the FBG.   Solution: Switch to the BACKUP directory on the disk by typing CD\BACKUP. Then  try to install again.  If it still does not install, please contact us.         COMMON PROBLEMS                                                                 4. I have been using the Shareware version of the FBG.  I have now received my  Registered version and would like to install it without erasing all the         information already entered in the Shareware version.                           Solution: Type install (while in your disk drive).  It will detect a previous   version of the FBG.  If so, it will only install the new FBG main program. All  the data files will not be erased.                                                                                                                              If it does not detect a previous version of the FBG (it looks for the           directory, 96FBG), it creates the directory 96FBG and copies all files to it.                                                                                   If you would like to install all the new files over the old files, then type    INSTALL1.  This will copy all the FBG files from the disk you receive into the  96FBG directory.  Any old FBG files will be erased.                                                                                                             5. I am the Head Ref.  I do not want anyone else messing with my computer or    the FBG disk.  Everyone fills out their picks on paper each week and returns    to me.  How do I enter them in the FBG Pool?                                    Solution: After the Head Ref has Logged In, he can enter other Players' picks   under Options-Head Ref-Enter Player Picks.                                                                                                                     THE HEAD REF                                                                      The Head Ref is the person responsible for running the Office Pool.  The        Head Ref will:                                                                                                                                                  - Enter weekly game results,                                                                                                                                    - Set Office Pool Options,                                                                                                                                      - Be able to Save Office Pool, program and print options,                                                                                                       - Add, delete and change Player names and passwords.                                                                                                            - Add player picks.                                                                                                                                             The first Player to Log In is designat
